About Joy of Doing

Joy of Doing was founded by Tom Allen and his wife, Deborah Warren in 1974. At that time, they sold wood carvings created by Tom and quilts sewn by Debbie. The business has changed and evolved over the past 31 years, but the foundation is still the same -- it is about the joy of doing what we love.
Tom now concentrates primarily on hardwood wall sculptures and oil pastels. In addition to the evolution of Tom's work, Joy of Doing has undergone several other changes. One major change was the move from Idyllwild, CA to Silverton, OR. In addition, Debbie no longer sews quilts, instead she is a practicing speech pathologist. Both Debbie and Tom are active on the sheep farm with their youngest daughter, Rachael. In addition to working with the sheep, Rachael also contributes to Joy of Doing by working with her father on his sculptures as well as photographing and painting wildlife.
